  • The first African news hub of China Central Television, CCTV Africa, has been launched in Kenya. The reports will cover news from the entire African continent. For now, CCTV News will broadcast one daily show produced by CCTV-Africa. Cheng Yi reports from Nairobi.

    CCTV Africa will initially produce a one hour program every day, broadcast through CCTV's English channel.
    The main focus would be on news, but it also features interviews with leading news makers, and documentaries.
     
    To mark the occasion, a launch ceremony was held in the Kenyan capital Nairobi onWednesday.The officials joined the locals to play a Chinese drum and an African drumto represent the long-lasting friendship between China and Africa.(L-R: CCTV Vice President Sun Yusheng, Kenya’s Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka, Chinese Ambassadorto Kenya Liu Guangyuan, Kenya’s Permanent Secretary Dr. Bitanga Ndemo)The report will cover political, social, economic and cultural aspects in the entire African region.
    At the same time, CCTV's mobile application, "I Love Africa" is also officially launching after six months of trial broadcast.
    To mark the occasion, a launch ceremony was held in the Kenya capital of Nairobi on Wednesday.
     
    In attendance were also guests from all circles of Kenya as well as more than 100Chinese citizens currently working in Kenya.Kenya's vice president, China's ambassador to Kenya, Liu Guangyuan and CCTV vice president Sun Yusheng delivered their speeches, as a show of mutual appreciation.The officials joining the locals to play a Chinese drum and an African drum to represent the long-lasting friendship between China and Africa.
    CCTV Africa has about one hundred employees from different background, many of them are Kenyan citizens.
